Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology

The Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaelogy was opened in 1964 with an aim to housing ancient shipwrecks from the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts surrounding Turkey.
They have succeeded and to date exhibit shipwrecks that include the oldest find ever made dating from the 14th century BC.
The cargo of the ships consisted mostly of copper ingots. There are also more than 150 pure-thin, resins, cobalt blue, turquoise and lavender-colored flat, round glass ingots.
These ingots constitute the oldest glass artefacts on display in the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
Other artefacts are from the Bronze, Roman Ottoman, Byzantine and Hellenistic periods. There is also the Uluburun shipwreck which has attracted the interest of marine history experts from around the world.
The museum is located withinThe St. Peters Castle grounds and it is the top visited attraction in the Bodrum area. You get both attractions with one ticket.
