On this full-day trip, you’ll explore Ephesus, one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. The city was the commercial, religious, and social center of antiquity. Ephesus is known as one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in the world, as you’ll soon appreciate it as you walk down its marble-paved streets and see mosaics and frescoes still decorating the walls of the ancient Roman houses. Visit the Temple of Hadrian, the baths, and the city's brothel. In particular, you won’t want to miss the Library of Celsus, the most impressive of the structures in Ephesus. The theater held 25,000 citizens, who gathered to watch theatrical performances and gladiator clashes. Today, from the site you’ll enjoy impressive views across the main street that’s lined with marble fountains, temples, and baths. After lunch, continue to the House of the Virgin Mary on Mt. Koressos. Experience the holy spirit of the humble house where the Virgin Mary is said to have spent her last days.
